Will hair color cover up the green in my hair?

I have bleached blonde hair (pale yellow). I want it to be more on the whitish side. I first tried a purple conditioner, but that turned my hair slightly green. and still yellow under certain lighting. But i just want it white! I went and bought a blonde hair dye from Sallys today. It has violet tones. I know it will cover up the yellow, but how about the green? If it wont mask the green, should i treat my hair with tomato juice first? would the acidity disrupt the dye later on?
